Our Story

Our love story begins the old fashion way – Daphne and Bob met through mutual friends at a holiday ugly sweater party. Sounds like love a first sight, right? Wrong – well at least for Daphne. You see, Bob being the enthusiastic party host he is, answered the door in a Santa suit yelling “HO HO HO!”  Daphne was not impressed to say the least and had no interest in Mr. Santa. Let's just say that Santa had a very good time that night and woke up the next day with a headache asking our friends if they thought Daphne was interested in him. The answer was a very clear no.

Fast forward a few months to Valentine’s Day 2016. Our very determined mutual friends begin plotting again. This time they asked Daphne if she would dog sit their puppy for a few hours while they go out and enjoy a well-deserved date night. Daphne happily replied yes since it was Valentines Day and she was VERY single. Then when Daphne showed up and Bob was there with an open bottle of wine, she realized what was happening and decided to give Santa a second chance. After a few bottles of wine, lots of laughs, and some delicious chocolate cake, it turns out Santa was a pretty funny guy with a really great heart.

The Valentine’s Day “surprise” date was the first of many dates to come for Daphne and Bob. Over the next 5 years, they fell in love. They traveled from coast to coast visiting family and friends, hiked a ridiculous amount of trails in Colorado and beyond, sipped countless beers with local and visiting friends and family, supported each other through the good and bad, and learned how to make some really good homemade pizza, bread, and craft cocktails (thanks lockdown 2020). They moved into their current house in 2017 and embarked on their first foreign trip to Belize in 2018. Daphne’s family started taking bets on when they would get engaged in 2019....and then gave up by 2020.

But that all changed in March 2021. It was Bob’s 30th birthday weekend and Daphne and Bob rented a cabin in Estes Park, CO with the intention of hiking Rocky Mountain National Park all weekend. They entered the National Park on Friday, and to their surprise, it was nearly empty, which was shocking since it was a sunny, warm March day in Colorado. The couple started off on their 7-mile journey to Loch Lake and when they made it to the lake it was postcard perfect with bluebird skies, fresh snow, sun shining, and very few people. Daphne, being the planner that she is, decided to make Bob walk across the frozen lake into the middle to find the picture-perfect spot (clearly teeing up a perfect proposal spot for Bob). They found the perfect spot, took some selfies, and ........... sat down on a rock to eat their lunch. Inside Daphne was so disappointed since she thought it couldn’t get more perfect than this!!  To Daphne's surprise, on the way down the mountain, Bob suggested they continue their hike to his favorite alpine lake in Rocky Mountain called Dream Lake. Immediately, Daphne had hope that a proposal could still happen!! Once again, they trekked across the frozen lake to find the picture perfect spot, took some selfies, and ........... Bob got down on one knee and Daphne answered yes BEFORE Bob even asked her to marry him.  (In Daphne’s defense, we all know how Bob loves to tell long stories!) Dream Lake really was a dream and even more perfect than either of us could have imagined.

We are so excited to say “I Do” in July and continue to build Our Story.  We cannot wait to celebrate with you!!
